World Champions: 25 Charities That Make Our Home a Better Place
SPECIAL PROMOTION & CONTEST HELPS RAISE MONEY FOR GILDA'S CLUBS
June 2007. Gilda's Club Worldwide is honored to announce its inclusion in a unique, first-of-its-kind book: World Champions: 25 Charities That Make Our Home a Better Place to Live. Created as a full color, hard bound, coffee table book, it is an intimate look at the efforts and contributions of organizations that have profoundly changed society for the better.
Gilda's Club Worldwide celebrates this honor with our members, supporters and friends who share our vision of helping people learn how to live with cancer, whatever the outcome, not only for those diagnosed but also for their family and friends.
The book is available for purchase online and can be customized for gift giving, but what really gives the book a unique and exciting focus is that the project was skillfully crafted to include the ultimate promotion – where a percentage of its sales go directly back to the 25 charities that are included. In fact, every book purchased by a Gilda's Club friend will result in a donation of five percent of the proceeds to Gilda's Club Worldwide, which in turn will be distributed among the affiliate network.
In addition to purchasing the book, the publishers invite everyone to VOTE for the charity of their choice. The combination of votes and purchase contribute to twenty percent of the entire total of book sales proceeds which will go into a JACKPOT, to be awarded to the charity with the most votes at the end of the contest on Sept. 30, 2007. An additional two cents is donated to each charity in the book, in an effort to give each charity their "two cents." Gilda's Club Worldwide will share all awarded proceeds among its affiliates.
How The Contest Works
Anyone who visits the book's website at World Champions can vote once (free of charge) for Gilda's Club. But purchasing the book ( for $29.95) earns Gilda's Clubs 100 VOTES.
The contest runs from June 1 – September 30, 2007. For the duration of the four-month contest, the book will be available exclusively on Window View Publications' web site in order to track the number of votes for each charity. At the end of the contest, the book will be released for sale at bookstores and online retailers nationwide.

About the selection process:
Gilda's Club Worldwide and the other charities featured were identified from a myriad of sources, including Oprah's Angel Network, Forbes Magazine listing of the largest 200 charities, Worth Magazine's Listing of Best 100 Charities, U.S. News & World Report listing of the largest charities, Charity Navigator, Network for Good, and Guidestar. The charities were then evaluated based on such factors as the charity's mission, financial health, size, and far-reaching impacts the organization has on society. To secure integrity, Window View Publications project collaborated with an independent CPA firm and web programmer to tally the votes and monitor the allocations of money due the charities.
